Hale Library Concert Series kicks off with first performance Sept. 27
The Hale Library Concert Series is returning for the 2024-2025 season at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27.
In commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of one of America's most original composers, Madeleine Jansen, violin, Amy Guffey, clarinet, and Amanda Arrington, piano, will perform two works by Charles Ives, his "Sonata No. 4 for Violin and Piano," based on Protestant hymn tunes, and the ethereal "Largo for Violin, Clarinet, and Piano." Leonard Bernstein considered Ives to be America's first great composer, calling him "America's Washington, Lincoln, and Jefferson of music." Also featured on this recital are Clara Schumann's "Three Romances for Violin and Piano" and the "Clarinet Concerto" by Rutgers 1xbet online games login professor Amanda Harberg. All performances are held at 7:30 p.m. in the Hemisphere Room, Room 581, of Hale Library. There will be a wine, appetizer and dessert reception after each concert except Jazz in June, which will be served cabaret style.
