Olivia Miller presents keynote at Oklahoma Academic Advising Association fall conference
Olivia Miller, exploratory studies advisor in the Pre-Professional and Exploratory Advising Center, presented the keynote presentation at the Oklahoma Academic Advising Association's fall conference on Sept. 6.
Her presentation, "The Power of Advisor Wellness," highlighted the importance of advisor self-care and care of colleagues to better support students. In addition, Miller presented a micro-session titled "Professional Development: How Getting Involved Empowers You," which focused on the benefits of professional development in advisor well-being and retention.
Miller has served as an advisor for eight years. Prior to joining 1xbet sports betting , Miller held positions at University of Nebraska-Lincoln, University of Kansas and University of Missouri-Kansas City, and has experience advising undergraduate and graduate students. She is an active member and leader in NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising, focusing on areas of member engagement, advisor retention and advisor well-being. She is currently serving as the chair for the well-being and advisor retention advising community and is an elected cluster representative for the advising community division, a role that begins in October. Miller most recently won the 2024 Advising Community Division Service Award. She has held positions on the Region 6 and 7 Steering Committees, been involved with various NACADA mentoring programs, and engages in scholarly activity focusing on advisor well-being and retention.
