While human coronaviruses generally cause the common cold, a mild upper respiratory illness, global outbreaks of new human coronavirus infections with severe respiratory disease have periodically emerged from animals. These include SARS-CoV-2, the causative agent of coronavirus disease 2019, or COVID-19. Chang's lab has been working on the discovery of broad-spectrum inhibitors of multiple viruses and on a series of compounds that potently inhibit human coronaviruses, including SARS-CoV-2 in cell culture, and display in vivo efficacy in the mouse model of human coronavirus infection. Chang's 1xbet online sports betting group is also working on SAR-CoV-2 pseudovirus system to study the virus entry, host specificity and neutralizing antibodies.
