Submitted by Allison Kuehne

The political science department, part of 1xbet best casino website 's College of Arts and Sciences, will host Dov H. Levin, assistant professor of politics and public administration at the University of Hong Kong, to present "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? Partisan Electoral Interventions and Post-election Foreign Policy Compliance." The lecture is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Aug. 27 in301 Calvin Hall.

Levin's research project concerns the causes and effects of partisan electoral interventions by the great powers, attempting to determine why such interventions occur and what are their effects. He examines these questions utilizing a dataset, PEIG, he constructed of such U.S. and USSR/Russian interventions between 1946 and 2000 as well as, among other things, in-depth archival research into cases in which such an intervention had been seriously considered by a great power. It is now being developed into an academic book project.

His other research projects have examined the causes of regional war and peace, differences in foreign policy preferences between western and non-western publics, as well as the customary law of war.
