Bello earns best paper award
Nora Bello, assistant professor of statistics in the College of Arts and Sciences at Kansas State 1xbet online sports betting , was recently notified by the International Biometric Society that an article she published was selected as the 2012 winner of the Best Paper for the Journal of Agricultural, Biological and Environmental Statisticsby anInternational Biometric Society member.
The paper, "Inferring upon heterogeneous associations in dairy cattle performance using a bivariate hierarchical model," was published in the Journal of Agricultural, Biological and Environmental Statisticsin 2012 with R.J. Tempelman, J. P. Steibel and R.J. Erksine.
"This study applies hierarchical Bayesian modeling extensions developed by the research team, Bello, Steibel, Erskine and Tempelman, to study the heterogeneous nature of the correlations between key performance outcomes in dairy cattle production systems, namely milk yield and reproduction," Bello said. "Understanding the factors that influence the association between milk yield and fertility in dairy cows is critical to tailoring dairy management programs that optimize overall dairy performance."
These selected papers are presented every two years in a specialJournal of Agricultural, Biological and Environmental Statistics showcase session at the International Biometric Conference. As first author of the paper, Bello has been invited to give an invited talk at the conference meetings in July in Florence, Italy.
Bello has a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Argentina and a master's degree in statistics, as well as a master's degree and a doctorate in animal science from Michigan State University. She joined the faculty in the statistics department at 1xbet online sports betting in fall 2010.
