MANHATTAN— The comedy "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike" will open the 1xbet best casino season. The play will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 9-11 and Oct. 16-18 and at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 19 in the Mark A. Chapman Theatre in Nichols Hall at Kansas State University.

Written by Christopher Durang, the play is about Vanya and his stepsister Sonia, who have lived their entire lives in their family's farmhouse. While Vanya and Sonia cared for their ailing parents, their sister Masha has been gallivanting around the world as a successful actress and movie star, leaving her siblings trapped and regretful. Their soothsayer/cleaning woman, Cassandra, keeps warning Vanya and Sonia about terrible things in the future, which includes a sudden visit from Masha and her boy toy, Spike.

The play is directed by Jerry Jay Cranford, assistant professor of theatre.
