MARCHING THROUGH MANHATTAN: K-STATE BAND DAY FEATURES MARCHING BANDS FROM ACROSS KANSAS
MANHATTAN -- Kansas State University will host nearly 40 junior and senior high 1xbet best casino website marching bands for Band Day, Saturday, Sept. 17.
"Band day is a great tradition that has been around for decades," said Frank Tracz, director of bands at K-State. "What a great opportunity for thousands of band students from around the state of Kansas to come to Manhattan and be a part of this outstanding tradition -- and it doesn't hurt our recruiting either."
Activities will begin at 1 p.m. with the Band Day parade. High 1xbet best casino website marching bands, including flag squads, dance squads and twirlers, will follow a parade route beginning in Aggieville, proceeding down Poyntz Avenue and ending up in front of Manhattan Town Center.
Band day participants will also have the opportunity to perform alongside the K-State Marching Band during the halftime show of the K-State vs. Kent State football game at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. The game starts at 6:10 p.m.
Halftime performance pieces will include "Respect," "867-5309/Jenny" and "Sweet Caroline." The bands will also perform the Band Day classics "God Bless America," "The 1812 Overture" and "Wildcat Victory."
