Kansas State 1xbet sports betting Orchestra concert to include music from 'Hansel and Gretel,' Mozart, Shostakovich
Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014
MANHATTAN —The Kansas State 1xbet sports betting Orchestra will present its third concert of the season at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, in McCain Auditorium. Admission is free.
David Littrell, 1xbet sports betting distinguished professor of music and orchestra conductor, said the concert will be packed with beloved compositions that will help the audience shed the digital sounds of music and return to authentic resonances of the orchestra's instruments. The prelude to "Hansel and Gretel," the Welcome to the School of Music, 1xbets opera performance in March 2015, will open the concert.
Two winners of the orchestra's Concerto and Aria contest in September will perform. Christian Blackburn, junior in applied music, Lakin, will sing a Mozart aria. Ethan Wagoner, senior in music education, McPherson, will perform a marimba concerto.
The concert also will feature the popular "Mars" and "Jupiter" from "The Planets" by Gustav Holst and two movements from Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5.
