New lecture series explores university's 150 years of history
MANHATTAN -- Turning 150 is worth talking about. That's why Kansas State University is launching a new lecture series to celebrate its sesquicentennial in 2013.
The weekly Brown Bag Lecture Series will be offered in the spring and fall 2013 semesters.
The lecture series will focus on historical university topics and events. The lectures will be presented by faculty and staff, as well as some Manhattan community members who have special historical perspectives directly tied to the university's history.
Some of the lecture topics will include women's education on the frontier, student riots or demonstrations throughout the university's history and Frank Lloyd Wright's visit to campus. Also to be offered will be a profile of the first term at the university in 1863. The lecture series will also offer a trip to Sunset Cemetery to tour burial sites of notable K-Staters.
