OLATHE -- Secondary educators of science, mathematics, health, social studies or related disciplines will benefit from the three-day Teach Epidemiology workshop, June 26-28 at Kansas State University Olathe, 22201 W. Innovation Drive.

An understanding of epidemiology -- the science of public health -- and standards-rich teaching experiences and materials will be offered at the workshop, all of which can be used immediately in the classroom.

Epidemiology education aligns with the "Framework for K-12 Science Education: Practices, Crosscutting Concepts and Core Ideas" by the National Research Council of the National Academies,as well as with many of the National Science Education Standards, the Principles and Standards for School Mathematics, the National Health Education Standards, the Standards for the English Language Arts, and the Curriculum Standards for Social Studies.

Upon successful completion of all required program requirements, participants are eligible for one graduate credit from Kansas State University. Fifteen registration scholarships are available to Johnson County, Kan., educators. Application deadline for all attendees is May 3.
